The last few days have been difficult, as i have had loads of pain in my legs, all the way down including hips knees and shins. the positive things that have happened are that we have had Archie the Tiler and his mate Marius here sorting out our new utility room and study. the sunroom has had the washing machine and dryer taken out, and they are now in the downstairs bathroom in place of the bath. when they return we hope that the new WHIRPOOL bath has arrived so they can plumb it in upstairs; but first a new wall has to be errected on the landing, to extend the shower room.
DH has moved the cupboards from the sun room into the kitchen, and we have also ordered a new fridge freezer. i hope that it will last us out. he has also ordered loads of wood to make bookshelves, so we can at last put away some of the 27 boxes of books brought from yorkshire.

Monty Halls
There is a series starting tonight on BBC2 at 9pm about Berneray and the Uists. I am sure it will look lovely but i feel that the presenter's views may need to be taken with a pinch of salt. I have tried to put a link to the information in the Radio Times, but for some reason cannot do it.

Today we have had sunshine, wind, hail and snow. This evening is beautifully sunny and bright, and there is snow on top of the Harris hills. We also managed to buy a newspaper for the first time in five days, but now I should imagine there will not be any for a few days. They are flown in daily from Glasgow, but the airport is closed again because of the volcanic ash.

We have had another beautiful day here, and my pain was less today; yesterday it was really bad, and both legs hurt so much. There is no predicting how it will affect me. I can cope with constant pain in the backround, but the piercing stabs of pain are different for some reason. Here are some pictures of me and Rufus on our new garden bench.

Pain again
I have had several days of really acute pain, which led to me just whingeing and moaning all the time, and never being able to get comfortable in any position. Having slept a bit, I am a little better today; still in pain but not the kind that makes me scream aloud.
However, there was a buzzard watching the field next to the garden yesterday, and we now have a garden bench.

Garden bench arrives
I have had several days with lots of pain, but I am trying not to be overwhelmed by it. The weather here at the moment is amazing, sunny and bright with some wind. We aquired a garden bench yesterday, which is now outside the kitchen window.

Bad pain day
Today has been really bad as far as pain has been concerned. I seem to have days like this maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and there is no logical reason for it. I think that the Fibromyalgia accentuates the other conditions that I have, and I feel like I am making such a fuss; but I can't help moaning and crying out. I am now self-medicating with extra strong Diamond White cider. Going by earlier such situations, tomorrow should be better. It had better be.

First post
This is my first atempt at a post on my new blog. I feel that I am about to enter a new era in my life, and I am trying to feel positive about both becoming 60, and having to accept that I have a long term illness and that I am unlikely to suddenly be cured. I will start a course in Art in September, 42 years after becoming an Art Student in Hornsey College of Art in 1968. Since then my life has taken me in many different directions, some much stranger than others, and I am really lucky to have another chance to do something creative with my time.
I have been married twice, have 3 adult children, and have gradually moved further north; the last time from a small town in Yorkshire to the Western Isles of Scotland. I now live in a converted croft house with 2nd husband[who is 14 years younger than me] and 2 rather delinquent dogs.
